The AJ Light was designed in 1959 by Arne Jacobsen and has been installed in libraries, reading rooms and studies ever since. Its distinct asymmetrical shape determines how the light falls. The fixture head is tiltable. The base of the table lamp has a hole, originally made to accommodate an ashtray. Without the ashtray, however, the hole adds elegance and lightness to the design. The unique quality of its design idiom has made these fixtures modern classics.
